Dorothy Jenette Gochenour, 83, of Grain Valley, MO passed away Thursday, March 20, 2008 at North Kansas City Hospital. Services will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, March 24, 2008 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. Burial will be in Johnson County Memorial Gardens. The family will greet friends from 9:00 a.m. until service time Monday at the chapel. The casket will remain closed. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Crescent Creek Community Church 9511 E. 59th Street in Raytown, MO 64133. Dorothy was born December 18, 1924 in Kansas City, MO to George A. and Bertha Ruth (Dawson) Richards and has been a lifelong area resident. She worked for over 27 years at AT&T, first as a computer operator, and held many positions retiring as a staff assistant in 1987. She enjoyed traveling, and spending time with family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a very active member of the Crescent Creek Community Church, volunteering in the office and was known as the “Cookie Lady”. She belonged to the Telephone Pioneers Club and the Traveling Grandma’s. During WWII she supported the war effort by working in an airplane manufacturing plant. Her survivors include; 2 sons, Gene Gochenour and his wife Jane of Blue Springs, MO and Bill Gochenour and his wife Barbara of Mt. Dora, FL; a sister, Frances Richards of Independence, MO; 3 brothers, Donald Richards of Grain Valley, MO, Bill Richards of Oak Grove, MO and George Richards of Missouri; 5 grandchildren, Jeff Gochenour, Brian Gochenour, Amanda Albrecht, David Gochenour and Mindy Carson; 13 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
