Lawrence “Larry” Raymond Gooden, 95, Oak Grove, MO formerly of Independence passed away Tuesday, April 16, 2013.
Visitation will be from 2:00-3:00 p.m. Saturday, April 20, 2013 at Carson-Speaks Chapel; 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO 64052. Memorial Services will be at 3:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Inurnment will be at a later date at Mound Grove Cemetery. Larry was born March 10, 1918 in Wilburton, KS the son of Raymond N. and Bertha V. (Welch) Gooden. He was a U.S. Army Air Corp. Veteran. Larry retired in 1980 from Allis Chalmers as a manager. He was a member of the East Alton Community of Christ, where he served as a Priest. Larry enjoyed woodworking, being outdoors and most of all, time with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Love Gooden; sons, Dean Gooden and wife Laurel, Warren Gooden, John Gooden and wife Ava; grandchildren, Daniel Gooden and wife Lisa, John Gooden and wife Kristi, Holly Villasi and husband Paul, Emily Gooden, Kirsten CaHill and husband Dylan, Alex Gooden, Jessica Murray and husband Chad, Nina Wetzel and husband Jack, Amy Lacy and husband Derek; nine great grandchildren; sisters Esther Summers, Norma Gooden and Letha Gardner; and numerous nieces, nephews and family. Larry was preceded in death by his first wife, Irene Gooden in 1998; brother, Ralph Gooden and his parents.
