Peggy Hardy Goodman, 86, of Independence, MO passed away May 2, 2011 at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Blue Springs. A memorial visitation will be held from 1-2:00 p.m. with a 2:00 p.m. service to follow on Monday, May 9, at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Lung Association. Peggy was born November 3, 1924 in Tipton, MO to David Crocket (D.C.) and Jana Ross Hardy. She was a graduate of Stephen’s College and Southern Methodist University. Peggy was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Daughters of the American Revolution and United Daughters of the Confederacy. She also played 2nd violin with the KC Philharmonic and was taught by Vladimir Horowitz. She was a teacher from 1968-1990 in the Raytown School District, 5th Grade, at Northwood and Fleetridge Elementary Schools. Peggy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lewis Eugene “Gene” Goodman; three sisters, Hazel Laverty, Lynda Hardy Moore, Mary Virginia Hardy; and one brother, David Ross Hardy. She is survived by one daughter, Jennifer Ross Goodman, Independence, MO; and two sons, Eric MacKenzie Goodman of Independence, MO and James “Jim” Hardy Goodman of Blue Springs, MO; four grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.
