Virginia was born on Sept. 22, 1927 to Edith and Noah Padget in Arkansas City, KS. She married her loving husband, John Gorker, on June 6, 1948 in her hometown. They were married for 64 years. Virginia attended Graceland College in 1948 for one year. Her husband was a full-time minister for the Community of Christ church, living in IL, FL, NE, OK and MO while under appointment. She was a bookkeeper in most states she lived in. She also helped out at youth camps, was a church organist, led choirs and was a mentor for many. She, however, found her true passion teaching and loving her piano students and their families. Virginia was a lifetime member of the Community of Christ and was ordained to a priest in 1991. She was a loving wife/best friend, Mother, Grandmother, Great-grandmother and adoptive grandmother to over a hundred piano students.
Virginia fought her recently-diagnosed Ovarian Cancer gallantly but her faith told her the time had come for her to join her parents, Edith and Noah Padget, her beloved grandson, Ryan and many other family and friends. She is survived by her husband John Gorker, Independence, MO; daughters Sharon Norris and husband Larry, Lee’s Summit, MO; Sue Gorker, Blue Springs, MO; granddaughter Kamie Norris and husband Joshua Malecki, Independence, MO; great-granddaughters Cali Norris and Bayli Malecki; grandson Nathan Butler and wife Mendy, Blue Springs, MO; great-grandson Nathan Daniel Butler II, Bay Minette, AL and a little one on the way.
