Farrell Gravitt, 59, Independence, MO passed away unexpectedly May 13, 2007. Memorial services will be at 2 pm, Thursday, May 17, 2007 at Carson-Speaks Chapel; cremation. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.
Farrell was born Oct. 7, 1947 in Marshall, MO. He graduated from Raytown High School and attended Rockhurst College. He was a U.S. Army veteran of Vietnam where he was a member of the Special Forces. His family always came first as he demonstrated by being an excellent father, husband, brother and son. He served as a funeral escort for many years at George C. Carson & Sons Chapels. More recently he worked at Gravitt & Gravitt Home Repair, Blue Springs Painting, and had been a Dept. Supervisor at Home Depot and Sears. He loved riding motorcycles and spending time with this family. He had also written six books.
Farrell was preceded in death by his father Darrell Gravitt, brother Bill Gravitt, sister Marilyn Gravitt, grandson Tyler Trieb and grandmother Opal Dirksmeyer. He is survived by his wife of 32 years Lois Gravitt, of the home; daughter Robin Swain and husband Branden, Bridge City, TX; son Rick Trieb and wife Kelly, Blue Springs, MO; mother Mildred Gravitt; sister Gwen Royalty; brother Paul Gravitt and wife Wanda, all of Grandview, MO; sister Beverly Bianchi, Louisburg, KS; mother-in-law Ella Theel and family, Alma, KS; seven grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.
