Zada Grider

Zada Anne Grider, 76, of Independence, MO was called home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on November 25, 2011. Cremation with services to be scheduled at a later date. Zada was born October 28, 1935 in Deselm, IL to Frederick and Pearl (Mortimer) Pement. She received her Associates degree from Graceland College in 1955, a Registered Nursing diploma from the Independence Sanitarium in 1960, a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from CMSU in 1973 and finally her Master’s degree in 1979. Her working career started at the University of MO Medical Center, Menorah Medical Center and Lawrence Memorial Hospital. Zada then worked as head of Hallmark Cards Medical Department before supervising the nursing staff for the personal care of Mr. J.C. Hall. Zada then enjoyed working part-time for the World Church of the Community of Christ in the Presiding Evangelist’s Office. Zada was united in marriage to Clete Grider on December 14, 1975 and together they shared 36 years of happiness. The Griders were passionate about volunteer work which included RLDS “health teams” to rural Haiti from 1975 until 1982, then with health teaching programs in rural Haiti in 1984, 1986 and 1989. They worked in Youth Camps for special needs children from 1981 until 1986, and then at Camp Opportunity for abused children. Zada and Clete also worked for the Israeli Army in the Volunteers for Israel Program in 1987 and 1988. Zada is surived by her husband Clete Grider; sister Arvilla Weldon; numerous nieces, nephews; and a host of many special friends.
