Ernest Griffin, 68, of Independence, MO passed away December 12, 2013 at his home. A visitation will be held from 6-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 18, at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 19, at the Suburban Chapel. Ernie was born August 25, 1945 in Independence, MO to George and Helen Griffin. He was a career law enforcement officer, and retired as a Sgt. from the Jackson County Sherriff’s Department. His passion was railroading and enjoyed volunteering for the historic Midland Railroad in Baldwin City, KS. Ernie was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his three siblings, Carol Fultz of Bellvue, WA, Bonnie Parker of Independence, MO and Noel Griffin of Blue Springs, MO.
