Jewell J. Gunter (Rudder)

Jewell Jane Gunter, 92 of Independence, MO passed away Sunday, April 4, 2021 at Blue Hills Rest Home. Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 9, 2021 at Brooking Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday evening at the Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO 64052. Donations may be made in her name to Alzheimer’s Research Association. Jewell was born February 12, 1929 in Ben Hur, AR to J.E. and Ollie (Freeman) Rudder. She had worked as a machine operator for Easley Plastics. Jewell enjoyed sewing, playing cards and dominos, crossword puzzles, fishing and gardening and loved taking care of babies. She was married to Kenneth Gunter and he preceded her in death in 2018. Survivors include; 4 children, Debra Kay Ethridge of Warsaw, MO, William S. Gunter and wife Alisha of Holden, MO, Loretta R. Murray and husband Dugan of Independence, MO and Michelle Brown of Independence, MO; 15 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth in 2018, and 3 children, Darrell Gunter in 1973, Kenneth Gunter in 1971 and Carlene in 1965 and 7 siblings.
