Merle Guthrie

Merle P. Guthrie, 96, of Independence, MO, passed away, Sunday, January 17, 2010. Merle was born January 27, 1913 in Nebo, IL. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 73 years, Cleona. He was an appointee for the Community of Christ Church for 32 years. In his retirement he served as a volunteer for Outreach International, the Temple and Independence Regional Health Center. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Bill and Reed. He is survived by; a son, Richard A. Guthrie and his wife Diana; a daughter, Merlene Miller and her husband David; seven grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren and many beloved nephews and nieces. Visitation will be from 12:45 p.m. Sunday January 24, 2010 followed by a memorial service at 1:45 p.m., Sunday, at the Groves Community Center.
