Gwineth Lanonia Moore

Sep 8, 1940 — Jul 1, 2026

Gwineth Lanonia Moore passed away peacefully on July 1, 2026, in Bates City, Missouri. She was 85 years old. Gwineth was born to Wilber and Dorothy (Hinote) Jennings on September 8, 1940, in Norwood, Missouri.

Gwineth graduated from Norwood High School. Throughout most of her life, she owned and operated Moores Enterprises as an accountant and tax professional, working tirelessly to serve others. She also managed the Quality Hill Apartment Complex, a role that brought new challenges and opportunities, including the joy of working alongside her daughter Ginger.

Away from work, Gwineth found happiness in the company of her family. She looked forward to adventures made at Table Rock Lake, where camping trips became traditions. She treasured every moment spent on the water, especially water skiing. Bowling was another favorite pastime. While league bowling, she cherished the friendships and memories made.

Gwineth enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, never turned down a bowl of vanilla ice cream, and she enjoyed her retirement days sitting on the porch living with her 2 grandsons, Jeremy and Giovanni enjoying the goats and farm animals. Just like when she grew up on the farm.

Those who knew Gwineth knew if she put her mind to something, there seemed to be no obstacle she could not overcome. She would never shy away from a challenge. She even taught herself to fix and rebuild computers. Yet, beneath her strength lay a gentle, loving spirit—kind, compassionate, and always ready to offer support.

Gwineth’s warmth and determination will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

She is survived by her children, David Moore, Diane Sax (Mark), Ginger Moreland (Leslie) and Jodi Moore; grandchildren, Jeremy Roberts, Nicholas Burks, Josh Moore, Tara Mays, Tobias Moreland, Kaden Moreland, Kayci Moreland, Courtney Hockman and Daniel Epley; siblings, Lavoid Jennings, Juanita Arnold and Judith Schmoeger; and numerous great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Wilber and Dorothy Jennings; siblings, Lyndon, Lavonia and Vernice; and granddaughter, Taylor Moreland.

A visitation will be held on July 9, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Speaks Suburban Chapel, located at 18020 East 39th St S, Independence, Missouri. Following the visitation, a burial service will take place at 2:30 p.m. at Bates City Cemetery in Bates City, Missouri.
