Geneva Marie Haas, passed away on March 31, 2013. She passed away calmly and serenely at her home surrounded by the love of her family after a long illness. Visitation will be 6-8 pm, Wed., April 3 at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055. Private committal services will take place at Oak Ridge Memory Gardens.
Geneva was preceded in death by the love of her life, Joe; her beloved sisters, Allene and Reba and her brother Doyle.
She was born in Turkey Ford, Oklahoma to Victoria and David Mathia, both who preceded her in death. Her brothers, Elvan and his wife Bonnie, and Marvin and his wife Marie, still reside in Oklahoma.
Geneva and her husband, Joe, raised five children: Jennylynne, Mary Beth, Joseph Michael, Rebecca Jo and Annie.
She is also survived by her sons-in-law, Michael, Dan and Paul and her daughter-in-law, Mary; her grandchildren: Michael, Jeff, Daniel, Jason, Nathan, Chloe, Alex, Luke, Marcy, Mathew, Brittn, Jamie and KC; great-grandchildren: Amanda, Erika, Jake, Mika, Rickey and Leila and great- great-grandchild Emmalee.
Geneva was a small business owner however being a mother and grandmother were her greatest accomplishments in life to her and she will be greatly missed by her family and friends for her loving and caring countenance.
She was a member of the Santa Fe Doll Club in Independence, MO and a great supporter of them and their scholarships.
