Melba Halsey

Melba Pearl Halsey, 92, Independence, MO passed away March 26, 2012. Services will be 10 am, Wed. April 4 at St. Luke’s United Church of Christ, 727 N. Main, Independence, MO 64050, preceded by a visitation beginning at 9 am. Committal services will follow at 12:30 pm at Bethel Cemetery, Concordia, MO. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions to the church or the charity of your choice.
Melba wrote her own obituary, so the following are her words: “My parents were Richard and Lena (Dierking) Evert. I have two sisters and a brother who preceded me in death: They are Freda White, Amelia Borchers and Norbin Evert. I was a member of the United Church of Christ in Independence. I have two children and four grandchildren. They are Kay Cullen and Randy Halsey and their children Kyle Cullen, Matt Cullen, Allen Halsey and Nicole Hover. I was married to C.K. Halsey on Nov. 3rd, 1939.”
