Edna May Hamilton, 83, Buckner, MO, passed away Saturday, April 7, 2012.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 12, 2012 at Carson-Speaks Chapel; 1501 W. Lexington Ave, Independence, MO 64052. Burial to follow at Brooking Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
Edna was born July 13, 1928 in Kansas City, MO the daughter of Clarence S. and Della M. (Roberts) Sexton. She was a school bus driver for the Fort Osage School District and retired in 1993 from the Independence Headstart Program as a social worker. Edna was a member of the Full Gospel Assembly of God Church. She enjoyed ceramics, painting, and loved being outdoors.
Survivors include her sons, Bob Sharp and wife Marty, Larry Sharp and wife Pat, and Ben Hamilton and (to be determined); grandchildren, Tina Briggs, Bobbi Jo Hanson, Elliot Hamilton, Kayleigh Hartley, Kim Nelson, Mark Bessmer and Steve Sharp; 12 great grandchildren; brother, Richard Sexton and additional nieces, nephews and family. Edna was preceded in death by her husband, Bennie Hamilton, Jr., brothers, Edward and Eugene Sexton and her parents.
