Adrian Hampshire

Adrian Hampshire passed away Monday, October 18, 2010 from cancer. Visitation will be 6-8 pm, Thursday, October 21, 2010 at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO. The funeral service will be held 10 am, Friday, October 22, at the funeral home; interment at Oak Ridge Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Sycamore Hills Baptist Church Building Fund, 15200 E. 39th St. Independence, MO 64055.
Adrian was born September 18, 1936 to Floyd & Helen (Clark) Hampshire near Osgood, MO. He graduated from Belton High School and played on their 1953 undefeated football team. While working for Spencer Chemical Co, he attended night school at UMKC College for 10 years working on a BS degree in chemistry. After working for Spencer for 10 years he was hired by the Faultless Starch/Bon Ami Co. and held several positions during his 32 years there until retiring as Executive Vice President in 1999. Adrian was a proud member of the Sycamore Hills Baptist Church and was serving on several committees. Adrian was a member of the Indep. #76 Masonic Lodge, York Rite Masons and Ararat Shrine. He was Ararat’s Divan Director for 7 years and served 11 years as Directors Staff Director. He was active in the Shrine Directors Assn. of North America, holding several offices including President in 1992. He served on the Shriners Hospitals for Children Board in St. Louis for 9 years.
Adrian was preceded in death by his parents, brother Dale and sister Mary Louis Benson. He is survived by his loving wife, Judy, of 43 years of the home, sons Mark (Gayla) Hampshire, Scott (Debi) Bertoldie and daughters Christie (Paul Staus) Hampshire and Kelly (Mark) Marlborough, grandsons Brandon Hampshire, Koda Bertoldie and Brock Marlborough and granddaughters Adrianna Staus and Baylee Marlborough and 3 great grandchildren. Adrian said he was very fortunate to have the love, support and prayers from family, church, Shrine groups and friends until the end.
