Mabel G. Handy, 94, of Independence, MO passed away Tuesday, April 13, 2010 at Monterrey Park Care Center. Services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 17, 2010 at Speaks Suburban Chapel. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service from 9-10:00 a.m. Burial in Mound Grove Cemetery. Mabel was born June 16, 1915 in Gering, NE to Joseph J. and Grace E. (Myers) Kipp. She was an active and faithful member of the Gudgel Park RLDS Church where she led VBS and taught Sunday School. Later in life she attended the Hill Cumorah Restoration Branch Church. Mrs. Handy retired from Mid-Continent Library in 1985 after 22 dedicated years of service. Mabel was devoted to her family and a loving care giver to her husband. Mrs. Handy is survived by her son David Handy and wife Laura; 11 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; daughter-in-law Dorothy Handy Soper and husband Steve; and by a host of nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Albert Handy; son Robert Handy; daughters Mary Grimes, Corky Adams; brothers Joe and Victor Kipp; sisters Dorothy Harter, Ella Kueck.
