Mabel Lillian Hankins, 94, Independence, MO passed away Friday, January 28, 2011 at The Groves.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Thursday, February 3, 2011 at Carson-Speaks Chapel; 1501 W. Lexington Ave. Independence, MO. Burial to follow at Oak Ridge Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 AM Thursday at the funeral home.
Mabel was born October 25, 1916 in Eldon, MO the daughter of John W. and Nora L. (Hollor) Hayes. She had been a member of Stone Church since 1950. Mabel enjoyed quilting, sewing and being with family. She was preceded in death by her husband Harland Hankins; four brothers, three sisters, and her parents.
Survivors include her children, James Godfrey and his wife Marlene of Independence, MO, Marie Herring of Liberty, MO, Frances Mellen and her husband Leon of Lincoln, MO, Gerald Godfrey of Warsaw, MO, Shirley McCarty of Shelton, WA, Donna Shaw of Excelsior Springs, MO, Annabelle Kougut of Buckner, MO, and Marvin Godfrey and his wife Faye of Florida; 25 grandchildren; 38 great grandchildren; 35 great great grandchildren; and sisters Ruby Martin and Arzelda Dobinmeyer.
