Rhoda Florence Hanna, 87, of Independence, MO passed away Wednesday, August 31, 2011 at Carmel Hills Living Center. Services will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 6, 2011 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel 18020 E. 39th Street, Independence, MO 64055. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Memory Gardens. The family will greet friends from 10:00 a.m., until service time Tuesday at the chapel. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her name to the Dream Factory of Kansas City 5308 NE Chouteau Trafficway, Kansas City, MO 64119. Rhoda was born August 13, 1924 in Harrold, SD to Elvis and Sadie Irene (Swaney) Crump. She had worked at Sears Roebuck & Company for over 20 years before she retired. During WWII she supported the war effort by working at Lake City Ammunition Plant and at the Fairfax assembly plant, building airplanes. She enjoyed crocheting and playing organ. She was a member of the First Christian Church and the Beta Sigma Phi social sorority. She is survived by 3 sons, Bill Hanna and wife Roxanne of Carmichael, CA, Dan Hanna and wife Sandy of Buckner, MO and Jerry Hanna and wife Debbie of Independence, MO; 7 grandchildren; 4 step grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Elvis R. Crump, Jr. in 1958.
