Jay R. Harden, 66 of Independence, MO passed away at home on Monday, January 31, 2011 with his family by his side after a 3-year battle with throat cancer. He fought so hard but in the end his body was so tired. He was born on February 23, 1944 to Richard Harden and Doris Depin Harden in Fall River, MA. His parents preceded him in death. He is survived by his loving wife Judy of the home; his little sweetheart dog Jaycee; his daughter, Tammy Malloy and husband Ricky and grandchildren, Megan and Levi; a brother, Richard Harden; 4 sisters, Bonnie Rodman Green, Nancy Harden, Darlene Hough and husband Marty and Cindy Keigley and several nieces, nephews and many friends. He proudly served in the US Navy during Vietnam from 1962-65. Jay was a very independent man who never asked help but always offered it. He was quick witted and never at a loss for words. Jay you will be missed forever and never be forgotten. We love you Jay, rest in peace until we meet again. Services will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 5, 2011 at the Carson-Speaks Chapel 1501 W. Lexington Avenue, Independence, MO 64052. Burial will follow in Mt. Washington Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8:00 p.m., Friday evening at the chapel.
