Eugene Hargrove

Eugene H. Hargrove, 79 of Buckner, MO, passed away, Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at KU Med Center. Services will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 23, 2011 at the First Baptist Church, 131 S. Hudson St., Buckner, MO 64016. Burial will follow in Buckner Hill Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., Friday at the Speaks Suburban Chapel 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055. Donations may be made in his name to the Missouri Baptist Children’s Home. 11300 St. Charles Rock Rd. Bridgeton, MO 63044. Gene was born August 9, 1931 in Trenton, MO to Lewey B. and Francis W. (Hoddle) Hargrove and graduated from Smith Cotton High School in Sedalia, MO in 1949. For many years he worked as a meat cutter for Richard’s Sun Fresh Market. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, the Lion’s Club and was a Buckner city councilman. He was devoted to the Lord and his family. Gene never met a stranger. He was married to Patricia (Taylor) on February 14, 1950, she survives of the home. Other survivors include; 6 children, Deborah Vanarsdall, Bob Hargrove (Tina), Cheryl McFarlane (Jim), Beth Hoskins (David), Lori Palmer and Lisa Hargrove (Wayne Ewing); a sister, Ruth Morris; 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Billy T. Hargrove and Lewey B. Hargrove, a sister, Helen Tomeck and his parents.
