William E. Harleman Sr., 74, of Independence, MO, passed away Thursday, February 26, 2004 at his home surrounded by family. Services will be 10:00 am Monday, March 1, 2004 at Speaks Suburban Chapel. Visitation will be 6-8 pm Sunday at the Chapel. Graveside services will be 2 pm Monday in Lowry City Cemetery. Bill was born July 9, 1929 in Taberville, Mo to Virgil and Lula (Carroll) Harleman. Mr. Harleman served in the Navy from 1950 until 1954 and the Army from 1954 until 1957. Bill married Audrey Lee Dunning on May 28, 1958. To this union four children were born, 1 daughter and 3 sons. He spent the majority of his career managing Mid-Way Ford Body Shop. Bill managed little league baseball in the early years of Queen City Baseball. Mr. Harleman enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, hunting and in the outdoors. He loved his home away from home at Twin Oaks Harbor on Truman Lake. Bill is survived by his wife of 45 years, Audrey (Dunning) of the home; daughter Valerie and husband Scott Berridge, 3 sons, William E. Harleman Jr., Lyndel Harleman and Guy Harleman; 5 grandchildren, Brock and Brett Harmon, Billie Kay, Joshua and Jordan Harleman. Also surviving are 3 sisters and 1 brother, Irene Grayer of Appleton City, MO, Myrtle Conrad of Roseville, CA, Virgil Harleman of Independence, MO, Vinita Padgett of Kansas City, MO; in-laws Herbert Dunning, Marge Moran, Eva Swopes and husband Vernon, Retha Wilson; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers and 2 sisters.
