Virginia A. Harmon, 91 Independence, MO, passed away June 30, 2009 at St. Mary’s Hospital.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 12:00 PM, Thursday, July 2, 2009 at St. Mark’s Church, 3736 S. Lee’s Summit Rd. Independence, MO. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:30-12:00 PM Thursday at the church.
Virginia was born February 1, 1918 in Kansas City, MO the daughter of Patrick and Margaret (McCaffrey) Houlihan. She was a graduate of Lexington High School. Virginia was employed with Lake City Ammunition for over 20 years, retiring in 1983. She was a member of St. Mark’s Catholic Church. She enjoyed dancing, bingo, going to the casino and she especially loved being with her family.
Virginia was preceded in death by her sons, Mike Harmon in 1962 and Bobby Harmon in 2004; great grandson, Austin; 2 brothers and 1 sister.
Survivors include her sons, Jack Harmon and his wife Ramona of Dallas, TX; Tom Harmon of Independence; Ted Harmon of Independence; Jr Harmon of Independence; Bill Harmon and his wife Janice of Kansas City, KS; daughters, Barbara Melton of Los Angeles, CA; Sharon Stelling and Vern of Kansas City; Francie Lawson and her husband Ed of Grain Valley; Kelly Hines of Grain Valley; 21 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; and 1 great great grandson.
