Raymond R. Harness, 85, of Independence, MO passed away February 23, 2008. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM, Wednesday, Feb. 27 at Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave, Independence, MO. Burial at Mound Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8:00 PM Tuesday, at the Chapel.
Ray, a gifted musician, metalworker, and dearly loved family man, was born June 10, 1922, in St. Joseph, MO to Clarence and Sarah (Casselman) Harness. He served in WWII, in the South Pacific, as a radioman in the U.S. Coast Guard. He is survived by a brother, sister, ten grandchildren, and six children: Julia, Ron, Tim, Gary, and Cheryl Harness, and Laura Jeanne Harness Sturman. He was preceded in death by his wife Elaine and son Paul. The family would like to thank Marie Dunham and the staff of Blue Hills Rest Home for their compassionate care.
