Donald Leon Harter, 74, of Independence, MO passed away Saturday, October 15, 2011. Memorial services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 20, 2011 at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence MO, 64055. Cremation with private burial will be in Smithville, MO. Don was born June 3, 1937 in Independence, MO to Elmer and Dorothy (Kipp) Harter. He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Jane (Walker) Harter; children Phyllis Wren-Ruize and husband Robert, Bruce Harter, Lisa McGinnis-Cox and husband Kevin, Robert Harter; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers; and two sisters.
