Edna Angeline “Skooky” Hartman passed away unexpectedly Friday, Aug. 22, 2008 at the age of 95. Following cremation, a graveside service will take place at 10:30 am, Sat., Aug. 30, 2008 at Stewartsville Cemetery, Stewartsville, MO.
Skooky was born May 13, 1913 to Dr. Louis E. and Edna E. (Whitmore) Saunders in Stewartsville, MO. She graduated from Stewartsville High School and moved to the state of California with her first husband, Wilbur H. Kelly. She was a supervisor of eleven Hartsfield’s Ladies Ready-to-Wear stores for over thirty years in California and Hawaii.
Skooky married James Allen Hartman on Oct. 27, 1968 and retired to St. Joseph, MO. After his death, she returned to California in 1977. In 2003, she moved to Independence, MO to live with her stepdaughter, Sue Kubli.
Skooky is preceded in death by her parents; husband James Allen Hartman; two sisters: Louise Anderson and Fyanna Parr; two brothers: Dan Saunders and Richard Saunders. She is survived by sister Dolores Oslin, Huntington Beach, CA; stepdaughter Sue (Hartman) Kubli and husband Clyde, Independence, MO; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; as well as a host of nieces, nephews and friends
