Bruce R. Harvey, 85, of Hamilton, MO and formerly of Independence, MO passed away August 28, 2011. A visitation will be held from 1-2:00 p.m. with a 2:00 p.m. service to follow on Friday, September 2, at the Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO. Burial at Mound Grove Cemetery. He was born January 13, 1926 in Grand Haven, MI to Homer and Edith (Lalone) Harvey. He was their tenth child and he had four brothers and ten sisters. He joined the Navy on June 7, 1944. After being honorably discharged, he attended and graduated from Graceland College. Bruce Robert was a printer by trade and moved from Michigan to Independence, MO when he purchased Monty Parker Printer in 1971. He married the love of his life, Elna Elaine Dodds on June 25, 1948. Bob and Elna have three children, Cheryl (Gary) Barnett of Longmont, CO, Elna Lynn (Henry) Barron of Hamilton, MO, and Lanae Harvey of Cameron, MO; five grandchildren, Kimberly (Jason) Holmes, Andrew (Kari) Barnett, Jonathan (Lisa) Barron, Allison Barnett and Rebecca (James) Coles; nine great grandchildren, Bailey, Allileah, Jason, Henry, Marayah, Gavin, Maitlyn, Audrey, and Bonnie; two sisters, Joyce (Marshall) White, Leith (Judd) Oudbier; one brother, Jerry Harvey; brother-in-law, Frank (Arlene) Steinke; Sister-in-law Anna Mae (Keith) Harvey, and numerous nieces and nephews. Bruce Robert was a member of the Community of Christ and served as a pastor in Michigan and Missouri for 36 years.
