Ed Hawkins

Wayne passed away April 23, 2008. He was born April 6, 1959.
Wayne is survived by his wife, Gladice Ellen Hawkins and two sons: Richard Wayne Hawkins and Ben Hawkins of Independence, MO. Wayne and Gladice have been married 14 years, buy the total time together as a family is not important, It’s the quality of time that was unmeasured.
Wayne worked for V’s Restaurant as a prep cook. He enjoyed his job and the people he worked with. He was preceded in death by his parents, George & Zelpha Hawkins; brother Garland; sister Shirley; father-in-law Richard Schornhorst. He is survived by sisters Arlene, Marie, Mae, brother J.W.; mother-in-law Elaine Schornhorst; and other family members.
Wayne enjoyed nature, loved to cook, gardening and the moon and the stars. His hobbies were working on lawn mowers, tinkering in his garage, playing games on the computer and listening to music. He also had three pets.
His passing has caused broken hearts and many tears but the memories he made for us as family and friends will last a lifetime.
A memorial visitation will be held from 6-8 pm, Friday, May 2, at Lighthouse Pentecostal Church, 14411 E. 33rd St., Independence, MO. A memorial dinner will be held from 2-4 pm, Sat., May 3 at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 1400 West Sheley Rd., Independence, MO.
