Mary Lou Gerhart Hawks, 85, Independence, MO passed away Thursday, May 7, 2009 at St. Luke’s East Hospital.
Funeral services will be 7:00 PM Monday, May 11, 2009 at Christ United Methodist Church, 14506 E. 39th St. Independence, MO. Visitation will be from 5:30-7:00 PM Monday at the church. Graveside services will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, May 12, 2009 at Glensted Cemetery, north of Versailles, MO. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to Christ United Methodist Church.
Mary Lou was born June 5, 1923 in Morgan Co. near Versailles, MO the daughter of George W. and Stella (Cooper) Gerhart. She married Raymond S. Hawks on May 31, 1944. The only love and life long lover, and his patient and loving caregiver since 2002. Mary Lou was a homemaker. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church. She was Past President of the Social of the Beauceant, a member of the Eastern Star and a member of the Independence Pioneer Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant brother and three sisters, Margaret Ball, Betty Vern Klein and Hazel Gerlt.
Survivors include her husband, Ray S. Hawks of the home; son, R. Sidney Hawks, Jr. and his wife Michele of Florence; granddaughters, Erin Hawks of Mt. Pleasant, MI, Heather Hawks of Kansas City; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
