Dawn Eileen Hayden, 88, of Independence, MO passed away February 13, 2012 at the John Knox Village Hospice House surrounded by family.
Dawn was born August 9, 1923 in Odessa, MO. She was a graduate of the Colorado School of Nursing and worked at various hospitals as a registered nurse. The last 7 years of her career she was the school nurse for the Odessa R-7 School District.
On June 5, 1948 she married Ralph M. Hayden in Seattle, WA who preceded her in death in 1999. Also preceding Dawn in death were her mother and father, Granville and Odessa Thomas, her sister, Rosalyn Rees and a grandchild, Stephen Hayden.
Dawn was survived by her children, Tom Hayden and wife Christine, Cedar Rapids, IA, Lyn Shaw and husband Dudley, Highlands Ranch, CO, Tim Hayden and wife Cheryl, Champaign, IL and Jim Hayden and wife Susan, Lee’s Summit, MO. Grandchildren, Kim Tollenaere, Mt. Pleasant, MI, Michael Hayden, Melbourne, FL, Steve Streeter, Longmont, CO and Jenny Hayden, Kansas City, MO. Great grandchildren, Maya, Isabel, Hayden, and Anara Tollenaere, Mt. Pleasant, MI.
Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery with her husband Ralph at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Odessa R-7 Public Foundation; 701 S. 3rd St., Odessa, MO 64076.
