Vernon Hazelrigg

Vernon D Hazelrigg, 76, Blue Springs, MO passed away Thursday, September 30, 2010 after a short battle with cancer.
A Celebration of Vernon’s Life will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 5, 2010 at Speaks Suburban Chapel; 18020 E. 39th St. Independence, MO. Burial to follow at Oak Ridge Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 pm Monday at the funeral home.
Vernon was born March 4, 1934 in Buckner, MO the son of Willard Marion and Alma Jean (Robertson) Hazelrigg. He was employed with the Independence Police Department until 1962 when he joined the Jackson County Sheriffs Department and served with the K-9 Unit. He retired in 2008 after 40 years of owning and operating Hazelrigg Agency with Farmers Insurance Group. He was a member of the Blue Springs Country Club where he loved to play golf. Vernon was also a member of the Masonic Lodge #76.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.
Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years, Patty Hazelrigg; sisters, Barbara Bland of Independence; Jean Savage of Blue Springs; and numerous nieces and nephews.
