Gerald Allen Hedenberg, 67, of Decatur, IL, passed away, Saturday, March 1, 2008 in Douglas County, KS. Services will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 5, 2008 at the Buckner Community of Christ with cremation to follow. The family will greet friends from 10:00 a.m., until service time Wednesday at the church. Donations may be made to the Gerald Hedenberg Memorial Fund c/o BC National Bank P.O. Box 335 Pleasant Hill, MO 64080. Gerald was born February 10, 1941 in Decatur, IL to Donald Allen and Stella Marie (Janvrin) Hedenberg. He had worked for the Central Laborers Local #159 in Decatur for 30 years retiring in 2001. He enjoyed fishing, horses, mushroom hunting and most of all spoiling his grandchildren. He was ordained as a minister in the Community of Christ Church on July 5, 1981. Gerald was married to Barbara Bourne on September 9, 1959, she survives of the home. Other survivors include; 4 daughters, Karla LaRue and husband Steve of Pleasant Hill, MO, Sally Van Hying and husband Joe of Decatur, IL, Connie Call and husband Emmett of Eudora, KS and Bobbi Patterson and husband Lester of Pleasant Hill, MO; 3 brothers, Donnie Oliver of Decatur, IL, Robert Hedenberg of Goodyear, AZ, Larry Hedenberg of Decatur, IL; 5 sisters, Marge Johnson, Lizzie Krissberg and Doris Hedenberg all of Goodyear, AZ, Betty Harlow of Harrisburg, IL and Janet Rhodes of Blue Mound, IL; 17 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Kay Hedenberg in January 1963.
