Sadie Hein

March 12, 1914 — February 14, 2008

Sadie Ida Mayhew Hein, of Independence, MO passed away quietly on Thursday, February 14, 2008. Visitation will be from 6-8:00 PM, Monday, February 18, 2008 at Carson-Speaks Chapel. Services will be at 2:00 PM, Tuesday at the Chapel, with interment at Mound Grove Cemetery.
Sadie was born March 12, 1914 in Westby, Montana to Albert Mayhew and Ida Wertz. She moved with her parents and siblings to Independence, MO in 1924. Sadie was a feminist before her time and in 1954 opened Tasty Delight, the pink drive-in restaurant at 23rd Street and 291 Hwy. She was also a member of Community of Christ East Alton congregation. Everybody loved Sadie and many will miss her, especially her family.
Sadie is survived by her daughter and son in law: Drs. Sharon E. and Richard G. Hogan; two grandchildren, Dr. Monica E. Hogan Adams and husband Colin, and Alexander B. Hogan, ABD and wife Kristen; two great-grandchildren Gabriel Christopher Adams and Simon Elliott Adams; and two sisters: Esther Mayhew and Lillian Kinser and husband Hubert. Sadie was preceded in death by her husband Lester William Hein, son Gary Eugene Hein, father Albert Mayhew, mother Ida Mayhew, and brothers Lawrence and Leon Mayhew. The family suggests contributions be made to the World Wildlife Fund, 1250 Twenty fourth St. N.W., Washington , DC 20090. www.worldwildlife.org which Sadie supported her whole life.
