Pearl Louise Helsper, 84 of Independence, MO passed away Saturday, November 26, 2011 at Centerpoint Medical Center. Services will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 2, 2011 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055. The family will greet friends from 10:00 a.m., until service time Friday at the chapel. Donations may be made in her name to the Grace Heartland Community Church 9507 E. 59th St., Kansas City, MO 64133.
Pearl was born July 14, 1927 in Kansas City, MO to Ralph and Eva (Smith) Phillips and has been a lifelong area resident. She had worked for over 25 years for Lake City Ammunition Plant before she retired. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a member of the Grace Heartland Community Church and the Lake City retiree’s club.
Pearl is survived by her children, Valeva Evans and her husband Glenn and Jim Helsper both of Independence, MO; 5 sisters, Helen Phillips of Jackson, MS, Lucy Hutchison, Grace White and LaVetta all of Independence, MO and Inez Larsen of Princeton, MO; a brother, Ralph Phillips of Branson, MO; 4 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. 2 brothers, Jack and Robert Phillips, preceded her in death.
