Jim Henderson, 82, of Independence,, MO passed away October 23, 2015. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 pm Sunday October 25, 2015 at Carson-Speaks Chapel. Services will be 10:00 am Monday, October 26, 2015 at the chapel. Burial will take place in Mt. Moriah Cemetery Kansas City, Missouri. Jim was born on March 6, 1933 in Kansas City, MO to Roxie and Lena (Sayles) Henderson. It was during grade school that Jim met the love of his life, Creta Jackson, with whom he shared 63 wonderful years. Jim was an Army Veteran of the Korean War. For over 30 years, Jim was a member of Northern Blvd United Methodist Church. He was a member of Local #2 of the Sheet Metal Workers Union specializing in commercial kitchens. Jim was well known throughout the area as an Umpire for Queen City Athletic Association for over 30 years. He also enjoyed bowling until his health started to fail. Survivors include; wife Creta, daughters Joi Hazelrigg (Jeff), and Lisa Barrett (Andrew); grandchildren Daniel Hazelrigg (Erica), Andrew Hazelrigg (Kristen), and Emily Barrett; great grandson Liam Hazelrigg., and a host of nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, and 1 sister. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Northern Blvd. United Methodist Church in his memory.
