Claude Hendricks, 88, of Independence, MO passed away Tuesday, February 17, 2009 at his home. A visitation will be from 6-8:00 PM Friday, Feb. 20 at Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave, Independence. Graveside inurnment services will be at 11:30 AM Saturday, Feb. 21 at Mt. Washington Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to the Community of Christ Summit Grove Congregation, 411 S. Lee’s Summit Rd., Independence, MO 64050.
Claude was born Nov. 29, 1920 in Rio, IL to Frank and Amy (Cole) Hendricks. Upon graduation from High School he joined the U.S. Army, serving his country in World War II. For many years Claude worked as a truck driver for KAW Transport. He was a faithful member of the Summit Grove Congregation where he served as Priest. Claude will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Claude is survived by his wife of 47 years, Ethel (Nelson) Hendricks; seven children: Jerry Hendricks, Robert Hendricks, Clyde Hendricks, Claudia Moellmann, Joyce Kilgore, Jerry Mason, and Penny Edwards; 28 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends.
