William Charles Hensen, 88, Grain Valley, MO passed away Tuesday, February 1, 2011. A memorial service will be at 3:00 PM Saturday, February 5, 2011 at Quest; 1278 NW Main St., Lee’s Summit, MO. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
Bill was born December 10, 1922 in St. Louis, MO the son of William Joseph and Caroline (Grimm) Hensen. He served as a blimp radar operator in the Navy during WWII and later enlisted with the Air Force as a radar instructor. Bill graduated from the University of Chicago with a B.A. in Aeronautical Engineering. He retired in 1985 as a Chief Engineer from Lockheed-Martin, where he assisted in development of the ballistic missiles for the U.S. Navy Submarine fleet. William enjoyed Astrology and being with family.
He married Irene E. Hall on August 6, 1942. She preceded him in death in 1996. Bill was also preceded in death by his daughter Denise Stephens and sister Bernice Hensen.
Survivors include his children Judith Hausmann and her husband Richard of Grain Valley; William Hensen and his wife Jeanie of Blue Springs; Dixie Mae Hensen of San Francisco, CA; Donald Hensen of Jacksonville, FL; and Dennis Hensen and his wife Phyllis of Lee’s Summit; 18 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
