Virginia E. (Leigh) Henson, 91, of Independence, MO passed away on Sunday, February 08, 2009 at Rosewood Health Center. Virginia was born September 2, 1917 in Oswego, KS to George Washington and Lottie Henrietta (Robinson) Leigh. She was preceded in death by her husband Alma Lee Henson in ’87; three sisters and two brothers. She was an active and faithful member of the Gudgell Park Congregation of the Community of Christ. Mrs. Henson retired from Mid-Continent Library after working 20 years. She enjoyed volunteering at the Community of Christ Temple, and was a lifelong learner. Virginia was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Mrs. Henson is survived by her son Stephen H. Henson; daughters Cathleen D. Cackler-Veazey and husband Stephen M.; Cynthia H. Morse and husband Austin; grandchildren Daniel, Joseph, Stevie and Leigha Henson, Abrielle Gensler and husband Travis, Brady Cackler, Bryce Veazey, Cameron, Jessica, Mariah and Corydon Morse; great-granddaughter Bailey Gensler; sister Leigh McSherry; and by a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends. Services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 11, 2009 at Speaks Suburban Chapel. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service from 10-11:00 a.m. Burial in Mound Grove Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Graceland University.
