Fred Hentges, 70, Sibley, MO passed away April 30, 2010. A brief memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm, Thursday, May 6 at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO before going in procession to The Church of The Santa Fe Catholic Church in Buckner for the Mass of Christian Burial, which will begin at 2:30 pm. Cremation. The Rosary will be said at 6 pm, Wed. at the funeral home followed by a visitation from 6:30 – 8:30 pm. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions to the Kidney Foundation or the American Cancer Society.
Fred was born Sept. 28, 1939 in Jefferson City, MO and graduated from Jefferson City Helias High School. He was a firefighter for the Independence Fire Dept. for nearly thirty years and retired in 1994. He was a member of the Church of the Santa Fe Parrish. He enjoyed fishing and wood working in his spare time.
Fred was preceded in death by his wife Frances and daughter Brenda Sherman. He is survived by son Michael Hentges and wife Debbi, Kansas City, MO; grandchildren Donald Sherman, Independence, MO; Mindilyn King and husband Sean, St. Joseph, MO; Nikkalous Padgett; Mikayla Hentges, both of Kansas City, MO; great-grandchildren Christopher and Alex King; brother Jim Hentges and wife Gladys, Centertown, MO; sister Pat Bonine and husband Wayne, Jefferson City, MO; brother David Hentges and wife Corlis, California, MO; sister Marilyn Schmidt and husband Roger, Jefferson City, MO; brother Gene Hentges and wife Karen, St. Martins, MO.
