Herb was born on 21 March 1959 in Kansas City, MO, the son of Herbert Brown and Sheila Highley. He graduated from Van Horn High School in the class of 1977. Herb graduated from the U.S. Navy Electricians School in 1978. He served on the U.S.S. Sampson (DDG-10), a destroyer in the U.S. naval fleet. Herb was proud of his work as an industrial pump and motor mechanic, which was his primary occupation for most of his adult life after his honorable discharge from active duty in the U.S Navy in 1981. Herb served as a reservist in the U.S. Navy until 1983. Herb was also a successful real estate agent for a time.

Herb was a prolific dancer, amateur comedian, survival hobbyist, and studied martial arts for 30 years. He was a gifted harmonica player with a beautiful baritenor voice. Herb loved reading, gardening, and creating memories with his family at the family farm. Herb was a kind soul and generous, ornery man. He will be dearly missed.

Herb is survived by his wife, Karen Brown, and their children Melanie Mosby and husband Beau, Libby Bright, Joel Brown and wife Angelica, Heather Purinton and husband Will, Drew Brown and wife Emily, Katie Heuer and husband Creighton as well as their grandchildren Scarlett, Alexander, Samuel, Violett, Bennett, Nicholas, Anneliese, Blake, Magdalena, Henry, and Juliette. He is survived by mother, Sheila Logan, sister Debbie Griffin and husband Randy, brother John Brown and wife Nina Sugamori, sister Kim Scaletty, brother Ryan Logan, nephew Randy Griffin II and wife Krista, niece Jennifer White and her partner Paul, nephew Miles Brown and wife Abby, nephew Travis Brown, nephew Grant Farmer, niece Sabrina Kover and husband Rob, and nephew Nicholas Griffin. He is survived by his aunt Linda Brown Love. He is survived by church elder and uncle Ron Jennings and wife Kathy and cousin, neighbor, and friend Jeff Jennings and his wife Laura and their children Jordan and Jake. He is survived by great nieces and great nephews, cousins, in laws, and many friends that loved him.

Herb was preceded in death by father, Herbert Brown, brother Martin Brown, nephew Cody Brown, and grandchildren Charles Heuer and Wyatt Purinton.

A visitation will be held on 08 June 2023 at 1 pm at Speaks Suburban Chapel with a funeral service at Speaks Suburban Chapel to follow at 3pm.

Contributions are suggested in lieu of flowers to assist the family with funeral and gravesite expenses.
