Clarice Herbst

Clarice M. Herbst, 87, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, Independence, MO passed away May 8, 2011 at Truman Lakewood Care Center.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 am Thursday, May 12, 2011 at Speaks Suburban Chapel; 18020 E. 39th St. Independence, MO. Burial to follow at Mound Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 pm Wednesday at the funeral home.

Clarice was born December 27, 1923 in Clay Center, KS the daughter of William and Cassie Stevens. She graduated from William Chrisman High School and was a 1945 graduate of Independence Sanitarium School of Nursing. She retired as head nurse of the Men’s Infirmary at Jackson County Hospital. Clarice was a member of the Remnant Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Blue Springs Congregation.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Lewis V. Herbst in 2001; brother, Ralph Stevens; and her parents.

She is survived by her son, William Herbst and his wife Teresa, daughter, Ann Rideout and her husband Steve, and John Herbst and his wife Barbara; grandchildren, Sarah Richey and her husband Rodney Larsen, Benjamin Richey, Beth Canfield and her husband Jonathan, Cassie Tomlinson and her husband James; and great grandchildren, Makayla Tomlinson and Alden Canfield. The family wishes to thank the staff of Truman Lakewood Care Center for the loving care she received while a resident there.
