Donald Heriford Sr

Donald Heriford, Sr., 76, of Independence, MO passed away February 28, 2013. A visitation will be held from 1-3:00 p.m. followed by a 3:00 p.m. memorial service on Saturday, March 9, 2013 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO. To honor his support and love of children, the family suggests that in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Don Heriford Memorial Fund for Children and Youth, c/o First United Methodist Church of Independence. Don was born March 23, 1936 in Trenton, MO to Hubert D. and Velva L. (Yeager) Heriford. Don’s career at Pioneer Services spanned 53 years. His first position was Assistant Branch Manager and he progressed to various executive positions including Vice President, Director of Lending, President of Military Acceptance Corporation, Director of European Operations for Pioneer Military Lending, and finally, Director of Internet Lending. When not working, Don was passionate about sports, traveling, spending time with family and friends, and was an avid reader. Don was a member of Mt. Washington UMC, and through Donice’s ministry he was affiliated with First UMC of Independence for the last 20 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; and daughter, Sandra Chandler. He is survived by his wife, Donice (Baird) Heriford; daughter, Susan Heriford and husband Mark Jorgensen; son, Don Heriford Jr. and wife Sheri.
