Clarence Joseph Hillerman, Sr., 91, Independence, MO, went to be with the Lord on Friday, February 12, 2010, surrounded by his loving family. Clarence was born August 16, 1918 in Germantown, MO to Henry and Frances Hillerman. He and his nine siblings grew up on the family farm and attended St. Ludger’s School where he excelled in his studies and was an altar boy. He served in the Army Air Force during World War II and was stationed in the South Pacific. He married his sweetheart, Marcella Boehler on May 10, 1944. To this union, they were blessed with seven children. His parents, three brothers, two sisters and a great grandchild preceded him in death. He leaves his wife of 65 years, his brothers Ray and Bernie, sisters Rosina and Esther, his children JoAnn Lacy (Richard), Jean Kliebert (C.J.), Ronald (Mary Jean), Carolyn Mitchell (Maurice), David (Karen), Gerald (Shelby) all of the K.C. area, and Clarence Jr. (Mara) of Brazil. He was the proud grandfather of nineteen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. Numerous nieces and nephews will miss him dearly. He was a dedicated postal worker for thirty years until retirement. Clarence was a faithful parishioner of the Nativity of the B.V.M. and St. Mark’s in Independence, where he was an usher and a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus. Visitation will be Monday, February 15 from 6:00 p.m. till 8:00 p.m. with the Rosary at 7:30 p.m. at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, February 16 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Marks Catholic Church, 3736 S. Lees Summit Rd, Independence, followed by internment at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, 7601 Blue Ridge Blvd, Raytown. The family wishes to thank Catholic Community Hospice who provided loving care and compassion to Dad and our family in his final days with us.
