Betty Himes

Betty Lu Himes, 84 of Independence passed away Wed. Nov. 7, 2007 at the Carmel Hills Living Center. Services will be 10:00 am Mon. Nov. 12, 2007 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. Burial in Md. Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be 7 �" 8:30 pm Sunday at the chapel. Contributions are suggested to Crossroads Hospice. Mrs. Himes was born on Aug 24, 1923 in Kansas City, MO, the daughter of Harold W. and Elizabeth Hattey. She had been a Food Service Manager for the Independence School District for many years. She retired in 2004. Betty was a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family, cross-stitching, quilting and collecting antiques. She was a member of East Alton Community of Christ Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Moroni “Mac” Himes in 1994, a brother, Jack Hattey and a sister, Nancy Fenton. She is survived by a son, Harold W. Himes and wife Coleen of Morrison, CO. A daughter, Patricia A. Holzbaur of Independence, MO. Two brothers, Joseph Hattey of Odessa, MO and David Hattey of Liberty, MO. A sister, Jeanette Jackson of LaMarque, TX. Four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
