Angel Michelle Hirst Carleton

Angel M. (Hirst) Carleton, 52, of Independence, Missouri, passed away on April 11, 2023.

Angel was born in Independence, Missouri on October 30, 1970 to Jack and Ruth “Mavoy” Hirst. She attended William Chrisman High School and graduated with the class of 1989 where she played on the varsity basketball team. She later continued her education, earning her LPN license through Penn Valley. Angel worked at MCI Hospital as a radiology transporter prior to obtaining her LPN license and later accepted a position there as a nurse, eventually moving to a nursing position at Centerpoint Medical Center when it opened. Her coworkers and patients adored her as a nurse and everyone was always amazed at what she could do with only one hand.

On November 15, 2014, Angel married her husband, Steve Carleton. Together, they had two sons, Aayden, 12, and Tanner, 10. She always dreamed of being a mother and her boys were her world.

Angel enjoyed spending time with her sons, traveling to new beaches with her family, drawing, painting, gardening, fishing and camping. Her boys spoke of their memories of their many vacations including going to the Grand Canyon, South Padre Island, Daytona Beach, and even a Disney Cruise. She was a huge animal lover, with a special interest in Hemingway polydactyl cats and Husky dogs.

Angel was preceded in death by her father, Jack.

She is survived by her mother, Ruth; husband, Steve; sons, Aayden and Tanner; sister, Andrea Abel; brother, Michael (Cindy) Hirst; nieces, Brianna Abel (Austin Stone) and Rayne Monteer; nephews, Dakota Abel and Riley (Ariana) Hirst; and many other extended family members.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 18, 2023 from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Speaks Suburban Chapel in Independence, MO. Following the visitation, Angel will be cremated and plans for a graveside service will be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, contributions will be used to establish a trust fund for Aayden and Tanner.
