Virgil Elkin Hodges, 77, of Independence, MO, went to meet his Lord and Savior on Friday, August 4, 2006. Virgil was born June 12, 1929 in Lexington, MO to Ohle E. and Rosie V. (Benware) Hodges. Mr. Hodges proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict in 1951-1953. He worked for Allis Chalmers for 33 years before retiring in 1994. Virgil was a prominent member and Honorary Deacon at his church. He was known for his enthusiasm in helping others with his many skills and talents. Mr. Hodges is survived by his wife of 25 years, Peggy Hodges of the home; daughter Tamara Hodges, son Phillip Hodges; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers Bill Hodges and Darrell Hodges, sister Marybelle Seitz; and a host of other family and special friends. Virgil was preceded in death by his daughter Lucretia Hamilton-Self.
