Fred Hoffman, 79, Independence, MO passed away Monday, October 26, 2009 at his home.
Fred was born April 30, 1930 in Mountain Home, ID the son of John and Elizabeth R. (Filley) Hoffman. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving in Germany from 1953-1955. Fred took on many management jobs over the years, but his favorite job was owning and operating Chipman Plaza Carwash in Lee’s Summit for 18 years. He was active in The Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints New Hope Congregation and served as an Elder.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Marjorie of the home; daughter, Christa Hutsell and her husband Kevin of Independence, MO; grandchildren, Kendra and Derek Hutsell; brother, Aaron Hoffman of St. Joseph, MO; and sister, Esther Koontz of Baker, OR. numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Mary Carter, and Alice Hoffman; brothers, John, David, and Paul Hoffman; and his parents.
Memorial services will be 3:00 PM Sunday, November 1, 2009 at The Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints New Hope Congregation; 220 W. Moore, Independence, MO 64050. Burial will be private. Visitation will be from 7:00-8:30 PM Friday, October 30, 2009 at Carson-Speaks Funeral Home; 1501 W. Lexington Ave. Independence, MO.
