Robert L. Hogge, 84, of Independence, MO, passed away following a brief illness on Wednesday, July 16, 2014. Services will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 21, 2014 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055. Burial will follow in Floral Hills Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8:00 p.m., Sunday evening, July 20, 2014 at the chapel. Donations may be made to St. Luke’s United Church of Christ. Robert was born September 26, 1929 in Quincy, IL to Estel and Grace (Shurt) Hogge. He spent his early life in Quincy and graduated from Quincy High School in 1947. He moved to Independence, MO 1956 to work for Cable Chevrolet. He later worked and retired from Armco Steel as a supervisor in 1993 after 27 years of service. Bob was a member of St. Luke’s United Church of Christ and the Local #13 Steel Workers Union. He married Norma Jean (Mueller) on May 28, 1949 in Trinity Evangelical and Reformed Church in Quincy, IL and they recently celebrated their 65th anniversary with a family dinner. Other survivors include; 2 sons, Michael L., Mark Alan and his wife Becky and 2 grandsons, Jason and Grant all of Independence, MO; 2 brothers, Jack and Duane Hogge of Quincy, IL and many nieces and nephews.
