Dorothy Holcomb

Dorothy "Dee� Holcomb, 77 went to be with the Lord Thursday, April 01, 2004 after a long battle with Alzheimer�s. Services will be 3 pm Tuesday, April 6th at Speaks Suburban Chapel. Visitation will be Tuesday from 1 pm until service time. Contributions may be made to the Alzheimer�s Association. Dee was born October 25, 1926 to Charles and Gladys Harless. She attended Beloit College in WI, West Virginia Wesleyan College, and received her BS in English from the University of Connecticut. Dee moved to New York City to pursue a career on the Broadway Stage. She appeared in six original Broadway productions, and also toured with the road companies. Dee was married to Eugene Glen Holcomb in Ashville, NC on August 10, 1960. The family lived in Virginia, Delaware, Iowa, and Texas, before moving to Independence, MO in 1977. Dee was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Gene in 1994, and her brother Chuck Harless. She is survived by her sons, Eric H. with wife Leslie K. Holcomb of Grain Valley, MO, and Brion B. Holcomb of Independence, MO; daughter, Jenny J. Holcomb of Olathe, KS; granddaughters, Sydney Holcomb, and Valerie Holcomb; brother, Ted Harless of Homosassa, FL; sister, Barbara Wade of St. Charles, IL.
