Fred M. Hollich, 62, of Blue Springs, MO, passed away, Sunday, November 8, 2009, at Lee’s Summit Medical Center. Cremation is planned with a celebration of his life service to be held at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, November 14, 2009 at the Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 7851 W. 119th Street, Overland, KS 66213. Donations may be made to the Hollis Renewal Center, Bethania Kids or to donor’s choice. Fred was born February 6, 1947 in Chicago, IL to Fred A. and Betty Ann (Woebke) Hollich. He spent his early life in Chicago before moving to Milwaukee, WI where he graduated from Boys Tech High School. After graduation he proudly served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. He worked for a number of years Thrivent Financial for Lutheran most recently as a Manager of Lutheran Engagement for Kansas/Missouri. He was an avid photographer. He attended Holy Cross Lutheran Church. He headed volunteer builds for Habitat for Humanity through a program called Thrivent Builds and they built 15 houses last year. He also held five Thrivent/KC Chiefs playground builds, for inner city kids, and sponsored All Pro Dads with the KC Chiefs and Family First Organization. At any one time he had up to 4,000 volunteers working under his guidance for various service projects. His life was dedicated to service of others. He also furnished disaster relief for the states of Kansas and Missouri, which were under his care. He is survived by his wife, the former Susan Deese. Other survivors include; a sister, Sue Crawford of St. Louis, MO.
