Helen Louise (Constance) Holmes, 94, Independence, Mo. passed away Dec. 24, 2004, at Rosewood Health Center. Services will be 10 am, Friday Dec. 31, 2004 at Speaks Suburban Chapel followed by a graveside service at 1 pm, Friday at the Delano Cemetery, Cameron, Mo. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to the Eden Heights Congregation Community of Christ, 800 S. Saville, Indep., Mo. 64050 or Kansas City Hospice, 9221 Ward Pkwy, K.C., Mo. 64114. Helen was born June 19, 1910 in the family farm house near Eliza, IL, to John C. and Clara Ziegenhorn Constance. From age eight she lived with her family on a farm north of Cameron, Mo. She attended Mt. Pleasant grade school and Cameron High School. She was an excellent cook, and also enjoyed sewing, gardening, reading, travel, poetry, and crossword puzzles. On June 25, 1939, she married Vern S. Holmes in Walnut Park R.L.D.S. Church in Independence. Mrs. Holmes lived in Billings and Great Falls, MT; Omaha, NE; and College Park, GA. In 1964 she and her husband moved to Independence, MO. She was a member of the Eden Heights Community of Christ Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, her parents, two brothers Dale Constance and Charles Constance; two sisters Lois Thatcher and Mildred Cridling. She is survived by a sister Vera Hewitt, Sun City, AZ; several nieces and nephews; grandnieces and grandnephews.
