Honna Lou "Pat" Brand

Pat Brand, 96 years, of Blue Springs, Missouri died Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at home surrounded by family. A visitation will be held from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Monday April 27, 2026, with a memorial service taking place at 7:00 PM at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 East 39th St S, Independence, Missouri.

Honna Lou Gowler was born on November 4, 1929, in Mt. Vernon, Illinois, to Robert Patrick “Pat” Gowler and Sophia Josephine (Tasler) Gowler. She graduated from Mt. Vernon High School in 1947, where everyone called her Patsy. Pat worked at the University of Missouri – Kansas City as a Senior Clerk in the Development Records Department until her retirement. Pat was a wonderful mother and much-loved grandma, always there for her family, saying, “Call if you need anything!”

She was preceded in death by her son, Terry Robert Brand, and granddaughter, Erika Nicole Brand. She leaves behind her daughter, Ellen Brand (Darwin Rold), of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; her son, Eric Brand of Blue Springs, Missouri; her granddaughter, Anna Freeman (Tyler Freeman) of Independence, Missouri; and her ex-daughter-in-law, Susan Brand of Blue Springs, Missouri.

Immeasurable gratitude is expressed for the palliative and hospice care Pat received from Crossroads, and later ACG Hospice. Thank you, Mel and Annette. In lieu of flowers, the family recommends donations be made in Pat’s honor to a hospice of your choice.
